This year we have succumbed to those who wish to ride without gears.....yes, a singlespeed solo category is now available at the Kona 24hr so you can also qualify for World Champs as a SS rider.
Remember camping is free at the Kona 24hr with a huge flat camping space, so bring your support crew and make a weekend of it. The Friday prior to the Kona is an awesome opportunity to check out the trails south of the township of Forrest, which are not used during the 24hr. The local Forrest MTB club will also be staging a fun and friendly race on Friday evening at the footy ground so be sure to make it down for that.
And do we need to mention the country priced beers on Friday night??

KONA DIRT CRITS
Parks Vic have finally endorsed a new & improved MTB park for Westgate. Yes, that’s right, Melbourne is going to have its very own uber urban MTB park. Club FGP has been awarded a grant to commission trail works including a pump track and extensive trail network, with the south side of the park devoted to MTBing. Schweeet!!
The dirt crits are currently operating out of the north side of Westgate park, as bridge strengthening works have effectively cut the park in two. We are working very hard to get the Kona Dirt Crits start/finish area moved from the existing BBQ shelter to the end of Lorimer St, as soon as possible, in order to run the crits on the south side. There is plenty of parking on Lorimer St and the new start/finish will be alongside the Yarra section of Westgate, adjacent to the punt. Check out the FGP forum for updates on when the changeover will occur and for maps/directions.
